The Chalutzim camp program gives campers a unique opportunity to explore the beautiful outdoor Henry Kaufmann Campground located in Staten Island, NY. The 75 acres of open meadows, a pool complex, adaptable ball fields, and hiking trails ensure our campers will have a summer they’ll never forget. Experienced staff help campers foster new friendships, strengthen their social skills, and cultivate confidence. Marks JCH uses the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim curriculum. The program consists of six comprehensive levels that teach kids of all ages and abilities how to swim skillfully and safely. Each level includes training in basic water safety, and all aquatic and safety skills are taught in a logical progression.
Children express themselves through art, music, and theater. Under the caring guidance of professional specialists children use the nature around them for artistic inspiration and variety of materials.
Focusing on developing and strengthening various athletic skills while being a good team-player through clinics, instruction, and healthy tournaments. Soccer, basketball, kickball, Israeli gaga and zooball are some of the sports campers have to look forward to.
Using fresh ingredients to prepare nutrient-rich healthy snacks, campers will learn all about healthy eating habits and will eagerly show off their chef skills.
A unique sport that can be enjoyed by anyone regardless of previous experience is one of the biggest highlights at camp. Archery’s structure and focus on calm precision offer an opportunity for campers to excel in a different kind of sport, and to gain skills that are applied in many other activities.
Through hands-on robotics projects and science experiments, campers learn outside the classroom learning about their surrounding world. Campers learn about astronomy, chemistry, physics, earth science, and animal life cycles.
Our program integrates unique aspects of our shared heritage and Israeli culture into camp life through an immersive, experiential curriculum. Israeli emissaries, schlichim who join us at camp bring Israeli life, culture, and Hebrew language to all campers. Campers experience weekly activities, Friday Shabbat celebrations, and special events.
Campers will explore the great outdoors through guided nature hikes on the campgrounds’ adventure trails, while learning important concepts such as taking care of the Earth and participating in team building activities.
Marks JCH provides daily kosher lunch and 2 snacks. Yeladim also receives breakfast upon arrival. You can find a sample menu here. For children who prefer to bring their own food, a camp cooler is available. Please note that Marks JCH camp is peanut-aware but is NOT nut-free.
